“I think a lot of the opposition to gay marriage and to gay rights generally is the result of fear; the fear of what we don’t understand…By standing up and being strong supporters of what is right we can show them there’s nothing to be afraid of.
I am a straight ally but I don’t really like that term, because fact of the matter is as somebody with two gay moms it’s my community too. I don’t know if I know anybody who does not have either a close friend or family member who isn’t gay. We all know somebody and it’s all a part of our community. As soon as you start trying to take away the rights of one person, the whole thing could unravel.”
